FROM MAS TO ZAS

From the MAS museum you walk along the old docks towards the Cadix quarters, which is part of the ‘Eilandje’.
These quarters are being fully renovated: residential units are to be found among ancient buildings that have received new functions.
Together with your tour guide you will discover the reconversion of what in the 19th century used to be a place of warehouses and freight handlers’ businesses, into a new vibrant neighbourhood. We will pass by the Municipal School of Decorative Arts and Crafts, the renovated Vlaeynatie warehouse and the former recruitment building for dock workers. We end in the ZAS (Ziekenhuis aan de Stroom – Hospital by the river) after having seen works of the present-day artists Sofie Muller and Philip Aguirre y Otegui.
Finally you can have a cup of coffee underneath the spectacular art installation of the upside down Muller Lambote operation room.
